Add a Store Locator to Your Shopify Store

Add a Shopify Store Locator to Your Store blog banner.

Your customers are searching for your stores. When they can’t find the right location — or find one with outdated hours — they leave. A store locator fixes that. And when it’s connected to your live inventory and click & collect availability, it does a lot more than just show a map.

The Store Locator feature in SAAS Integrator’s Click & Collect app gives omnichannel retailers a searchable, SEO-optimised store directory — built directly into your Shopify storefront, powered by the same location and store hours data you already manage.

What Is a Shopify Store Locator?

Shopify Store Locator

A Shopify store locator is a customer-facing page that lets shoppers search for your nearest store by suburb or postcode, see live trading hours, and find out whether click & collect is available at that location — all without leaving your website.

Unlike a static “find a store” page, a properly built store locator updates automatically when your hours or locations change, shows open/closed status in real time, and links each store to its own SEO-indexed page.

Why Your Store Locator Is a Missed SEO Opportunity

Most retail websites treat the store locator as an afterthought — a plain list of addresses tucked in the footer. That approach leaves a lot of organic traffic on the table.

Customers regularly search terms like “shoe store near me open Sunday” or “click & collect [suburb]”. If your store pages aren’t indexed with the right structured data, location details, and content, those searches go to competitors.

A store locator that’s built for SEO gives each location its own page with a custom title, meta description, and JSON-LD structured data. That’s what connects your store pages to Google’s local knowledge graph — and to your Google Business Profile.

JSON-LD structured data is a snippet of code added to a web page that tells search engines exactly what a page is about — in a format Google can read without interpreting your content. For a store page, it communicates the business name, address, phone number, trading hours, and brand connections in a structured way. Google uses this to power local search results, knowledge panels, and map listings. Without it, Google has to guess. With it, your store pages are connected to the right entity in Google’s knowledge graph — which directly affects local search visibility.

How the SAAS Integrator Store Locator Works

The Store Locator is part of the SAAS Integrator Click & Collect app. It reuses the location data, trading hours, and click & collect availability you’ve already set up — so there’s no duplicate data entry.

It has five connected parts:

Part What It Does
Store Locator block A searchable directory added to any Shopify page — map with branded pins, store cards, hours, and distance
Store Detail Page An individual, SEO-indexed page per location at /apps/click-collect/stores/<slug>
Store locator tab Controls visibility, store image, SEO text, contact details, and Google Business Profile link per location
Brand Settings Your global website and social URLs, used in structured data to link every store page back to your brand
GBP Place ID Connects each store page to its Google Business Profile for local SEO

Warehouse-type locations are excluded from the directory automatically.

What Customers See on the Storefront

A searchable map with real information

The directory lets customers search by suburb or postcode, filter by state, and see a map with branded pins. Each store card shows:

  • Open/closed status and trading hours
  • Distance from the customer’s location
  • Whether click & collect is available

The Use My Location button re-sorts cards by proximity — triggered only on click, never automatically.

A store detail page worth visiting

Store detail page

Each location has its own page. You can add a store photo, parking and landmark notes, contact email, and nearby store links. The Click & Collect tile appears automatically if that location has collection days configured — no manual setup needed.

When a customer selects a store, it’s remembered across the storefront. Next time they’re on a product page, their preferred location is already pre-selected on the Click & Collect block.

What You Control in the App Admin

Per-location settings

For each location, you control:

  • Show in store locator — include or hide a location from the directory
  • Store image — a photo shown on the store page (if left blank, a Google Map image is shown instead)
  • Page title and meta description — for Google search visibility
  • Location description — parking, landmarks, services unique to that store
  • Email address — shown under contact info on the store page
  • Google Business Profile Place ID — links the page to your GBP listing

A live Google Search Preview shows exactly how each store page will appear in search results before you publish.

The store detail page (optional)

Each location can have its own individual store page — but it’s entirely optional. If you don’t need it, leave it off. If you do, every section is independently toggleable:

Store detail page Content sections

  • About this store — shows your location description
  • Additional info — contact email and extra location detail
  • Nearby stores — links to other locations close by
  • Brand links — your website, Facebook, and Instagram, shown on every store page
  • Services section — shows customers what’s available at that location: Click and Collect, in-store shopping, returns and exchanges, and gift wrapping. Each tile has its own label and one-line description you can customise. The Click and Collect tile only appears if that location actually offers collection — no manual override needed.

Services section

Turn off any section you don’t need. What remains is clean, relevant, and accurate for that store.

Directory behaviour

The directory block gives you control over layout, distance units, default sort order, state filter pills, and marker clustering for stores with dense locations. You can also set how many days ahead an upcoming holiday closure is flagged on store cards.

Set it up once, then leave it alone

This is where the Store Locator pays for itself operationally. Because it draws from the same location data as Click and Collect, there’s no separate system to maintain. Add a public holiday closure once in Store Hours — it updates your store cards, your store detail pages, and your Click and Collect product block at the same time. No duplicate entry. No separate store locator app to keep in sync. Your storefront stays accurate without anyone having to remember to update it.

The Local SEO Value: Google Business Profile Consistency

Paste a location’s GBP Place ID and click Verify. The app compares your Shopify store details — name, address, phone — against what Google has on file, side by side.

Status Meaning
Match (green) The field agrees with Google
Likely match (amber) Agrees once abbreviations are normalised (e.g. Boulevard vs Blvd) — treated as correct
Mismatch (red) Genuinely differs — worth fixing before it affects local rankings
Not on Google (grey) Google has no value for that field — not counted as a mismatch

The verification badge shows Verified when no field is a mismatch, or Needs attention when at least one is. NAP consistency — name, address, phone — is one of the foundational signals Google uses for local ranking. Getting it right matters.

Setting Up the Store Locator: The Short Version

  1. Make locations visible — In Store Hours, open each location, switch to the Store locator tab, turn on Show in store locator, and add a store image, page title, meta description, and location description.
  2. Add the directory block — Create a Shopify page (e.g. “Stores”), open it in the theme editor, add the Store Locator block in the Apps section, configure, and save.Add Store Locator block
  3. Enable the Store Detail Page embed — Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds → turn on Store Detail Page. Then turn on Enable More Details button in the directory block.
  4. Set your Brand Settings — Add your brand website, Facebook, and Instagram URLs in the app admin. These feed the structured data on every store page.
  5. Link each Google Business Profile — Paste each location’s GBP Place ID and click Verify.

Who This Is For

The Store Locator is built for multi-location omnichannel retailers who want:

  • A customer-facing store directory that doesn’t require a separate tool or developer build
  • Store pages that rank in local search without extra SEO setup
  • Click & collect availability shown at the point where customers are deciding where to shop
  • Location data that stays in one place and flows through everywhere

If you’re managing five stores or fifty, the store locator scales without additional data management overhead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the store locator work with my existing Shopify locations?

Yes. The store locator uses your existing Shopify locations, addresses, trading hours, and Click and Collect availability already configured in the Click and Collect app, so there is no separate location setup.

Will each store get its own Google-indexed page?

Yes. Each location can have its own store page at /apps/click-collect/stores/<slug> with its own title tag, meta description, and JSON-LD structured data. If you add a Google Business Profile Place ID, the page can also link to that profile.

What if a location should not appear in the store directory?

Each location has a Show in store locator setting. If you turn it off, that location is excluded from the customer-facing directory. Warehouse-type locations are excluded automatically.

Does the store locator show Click and Collect availability?

Yes. Each store card shows whether Click and Collect is available. On the individual store page, the Click and Collect tile appears automatically when that location has collection days configured.

What Google APIs does the store locator need?

The store locator uses the same Google API key as Click and Collect for postcode search and distance ranking. Map display and Google Business Profile Place ID checks require additional Google APIs to be enabled, as outlined in the setup guide.
